Functional Charts (Workbench)

Overview

Functional Charts (also known as Placeholder Charts ) allow you to display your organization's structure based on a specific function. For example, employees will roll up to a system-generated placeholder labeled as their designated function area. The following article provides step-by-step instructions for configuring a Functional Chart in OrgChart Workbench.

Access Placeholder Charts
  1. Log into OrgChart Workbench.

  2. Open an existing chart.

  3. Select the Refresh ribbon, and then click on the Advanced icon. The Advanced Options panel appears.

  4. Check the Placeholder Chart checkbox, and then click on the options button. You will be prompted to select up to 2 Functions.

  5. Click OK to close the Function dialog, and then click OK at the bottom of the Advanced Options panel.

  6. Click on the Refresh icon.

  7. Placeholders based on the Function(s) (selected in step 3) are automatically generated (as seen below). Click on the Save icon to preserve these changes

Note: For Placeholder Charts generated in OrgChart Workbench, you can apply conditional formatting to Placeholders by using the following Basic Rule structure: Field isPlaceholder Equals the Value 1. Reference the article Rule-Driven Charting for more information about Conditional Formatting.
