Overview

Arithmetic formulas allow administrators to do basic math using the fields available in the source data.

The following section provides step-by-step instructions for creating a static arithmetic formula using the Multiplication operation.

Creating a Multiplication Static Formula

  1. Sign in to OrgChart Viewer.

  2. Click on More > Chart Settings, and then select the Fields & Formulas option from the Settings dropdown menu.

  3. Click the + f(x) button (in the top right corner) to create a new formula.

  4. Click on the "No values. Click here to add." hyperlink in the Operations column.

  5. Select the Concatenate option from the dropdown menu.

  6. Click on the Type dropdown menu, and then select the Field Lookup option.

  7. Click on the Value dropdown menu, and then select the field that you would like to multiply (i.e. Salary).

  8. Click the Plus_New_Blue_Wide.png icon (in the Operations panel), and select Concatenate.

  9. Click on the Type dropdown menu, and then select the Field Lookup option.

  10. Click on the Value dropdown menu, and then select the field in your data set (i.e., Bonus Multiplier) by which you would like to multiply the previously concatenated field.

    Note

    Note: If you do not have a field within your dataset that contains the values by which you want to multiple the previously concatenated field, you can set the Type to Text, and then enter a value in the Value text box.

  11. Click the Plus_New_Blue_Wide.png icon (in the Operations panel), and select Multiply option.

  12. Click on Save. The formula is added to the list of Fields & Formulas.

  13. Mouse over the newly added formula, and then click on the Pencil_Edit_Icon.png icon. The Field editor is displayed.

  14. Click on the Field Type dropdown menu, and the select the Number option.

  15. Optionally, add a prefix, elect to use the 1000 separator, or select how many decimal places to include in the outcome.

  16. Click on Save.

  17. Click on Refresh, and then select the Yes option to preserve your changes.
