Tutorial 8: Moving Boxes

Overview

This tutorial provides step-by-step instructions on how to move boxes within an org chart.

Moving Boxes

  1. Select the Home ribbon and then click on the Open icon.

  2. Select the Tutorials folder.

  3. Click to highlight "Tutorial 8," and then select the OK icon to open the chart.

  4. Select the Save As icon to create a copy of this chart.

  5. Select theCharts folder, and then name the file "My Chart." Click Save. You will now be editing the chart "My Plan."

  6. Click on the Chart ribbon, and then select the Move Box tool.

  7. Click and drag Jonathan Miller's box (located on the third level, and below Matthew Miyasaki) over Sanako Han's box. Release when the green_arrow_down.png icon appears below Sanako Han's box. Jonathan Miller now reports directly to Sanako Han.

  8. Click and Drag Jonathan Miller's box over Justin Zicero's box. Release when the green_arrow_left.png icon appears to the left of Justin Zicero's box.

  9. Jonathan Miller is now positioned to the left of Justin Zicero.

  10. Click and drag David Gipe's box over Johnathon Miller's box. Release when the green_arrow_down.png icon appears beneath Johnathon Miller's box. Notice David's team continues to report to him even though his manager has changed. Notice David's team continues to report to him even though his manager has been changed.

  11. Click Save.
