BambooHRConnector Setup (Workbench)

Overview

The following article shows how to import org chart data into OrgChart Workbench using the BambooHR data connectorOrgChart Workbench

BambooHR Connector Setup

Notice

Username and ID are the preferred method to connect to BambooHR; in some cases, you may need to use an API key. Click here for instructions on connecting to BambooHR with an API key.BambooHRConnector (Legacy)

  1. First, in the OrgChart Workbench, select the Home Ribbon and select the Import button.OrgChart Workbench

  2. Select the BambooHR connector and select the Configure button.

    Tip

    If the BambooHR connector is not shown, select the Manage button to see the list of all connectors. Check the box next to the BambooHR icon and select Save. The BambooHR icon will now be shown.

  3. Enter the following information in the BambooHR configuration dialog box:

    • Subdomain: Your company's BambooHR URL (i.e., "companyname.bamboohr.com")

    • User ID: Your BambooHR username

    • Password: Your BambooHR password

    Make sure the "Use API Key" box is unchecked. Also, make sure the "Include photo field" option is checked if you want to import photos from BambooHR. Select OK to save the configuration.

    Entering "0" for the Report ID will query for a limited set of fields: "Department," "Division," "Employee#," "Employment Status," "First Name," "Last Name," "Location," "Name," "Nickname," "PersonID," "photoUploaded," "photo" (if the "Include photo field" box has been checked), "Status," "SupervisorID," and "Title."

    Entering "1" will bring in a larger set of fields.

  4. Select the Import button. OrgChart Now will retrieve the data from BambooHR. If the operation is successful, the Filter Data dialog box will appear. Select Next.Filter Data

    If the query is unsuccessful, double-check the BambooHR configuration (in Step 3). You may need to check with your BambooHR administrator to ensure you have the appropriate permissions. Contact us if you need assistance.Contact Information

  5. In the Define Fields dialog box, make sure the following parameters have been entered. Select Next.

    Warning

    If you did not check the "Include photo field" box in the Configure BambooHR Connection dialog box in Step 3, the "Photo" option (as shown above) will not be present in the Photo drop-down list in the Define Fields dialog box.

  6. Select Next when the Assistant Wizard panel appears. Then select Next to progress through the Assistant Wizard panel and the Subchart Wizard panel. In the Select Chart Template panel, select the Photo template from the drop-down list, as shown below. Select Next.

  7. Select Create Chart when the Master Page panel appears. You will now see your org chart in the main viewing area of the Workbench.

  8. Select the Save icon in the Home Ribbon to create an org chart document.Home Ribbon Overview

    Org chart documents can be opened and then synchronized with BambooHR using the Refresh process.Refreshing Charts (Viewer)
